I have etc., to acknowleage the

receipt of Sir C. Clementi's despatch

No.33 of the 16th of January last relative

to the proposed amendment of the Hong

Kong Merchant Shipping Ordinance No.10 of

1899, and to transmit to you copies of

correspondence with the Board of Trade

on the subject. // You will observe that the

Board of Trade suggest the introduction in

Hong Kong of legislation complementary

to that which will be introduced in this

country. I have, however, to invite

reference to Sir E. Stubbs' despatch No.213

of the 1st of June, 1922, from which it

appeared
